Fee Estimation Details:

Test fees at the water testing laboratories available are different for each specific test. The vast majority of tests requested are that of bacteria, nitrates and arsenic; that is why these are referred to as the “standard 3”. The estimated cost of the standard $350 plus tax. (Please note: my fee has been flat I started to offer this service but the labs available have raised their prices 3 times.) Rush and rush pricing is available with Fremont Analytical. While most on site collections will take less than one hour I reserve the right to apply the hourly rate to collections that are uniquely extended.

Note: When I began offering these services in November of 2022, my prices we roughly equal to Bob Siebold’s pricing at that time. Since that time, the labs have raised their prices 3x. My service fee ($200) has remained the same but lab fees are roughly $80 more than in 2022. : ( As of July 2026 I need to raise my flat service fee from $200 to $225 to cover the transportation cost associated with using a new lab for metals as Fremont Analytical had halted testing for nearly all metals. Bacteria samples will still go to Fremont and the service fee for only this test will remain $200.

Expected Turnaround Time and Rushes

Fremont Analytical has a standard turnaround time of 5-7 days and offers rush pricing up to1 day turn around. AmTest Labs typically returns metal results in 2 weeks. Another Labe Spectra Labs in Tacoma has typical turnaround time of roughly 3-5 weeks. Rushed orders are no longer available at Spectra Labs. Fremont Analytical has become my go-to lab but Spectra alone offers testing for Sulfur Reducing Bacteria (SRB) and Iron Reducing Bacteria (IRB). They also offer a far less expensive price on testing for “everything” (a relative statement). I need to charge an additional fee of $70 to use Spectra Labs to compensate for the extra time (>1.5 hrs) required for the trip. On occasion, delays come up at the Spectra and Fremont Analytical so expected turn around time is always an estimation.
